The Alisea Monotracolla is much more than a shopper bag. It is a practical demonstration of how eco-design can transform an everyday object into a long-lasting, responsible, and meaningful product. Like all our Communicating Objects, it is designed to tell a story—through its materials, its production process, and the design choices behind it.
Every detail of the Monotracolla reflects a precise objective: reducing environmental impact without compromising functionality, aesthetics, or durability.
1. Responsible Material Selection
Choosing the right material is the first step toward designing a truly sustainable product.
Over the years, Alisea has built extensive expertise in natural, recycled, and reclaimed materials. For the Monotracolla, we selected cotton gabardine as the ideal starting point thanks to its durability, versatility, and long service life.
The design has also been developed in a variety of alternative materials, including linen, hemp, jute, technical papers such as Jacron and Ecophilosophy, as well as reclaimed resources like discarded fishing nets and industrial production offcuts.
The Perpetua g_bag version takes sustainability one step further. Produced using our proprietary g_pwdr® Technology, it incorporates g® upgraded recycled graphite, an innovative recovered industrial by-product that replaces part of the conventional pigments used in dyeing. What would otherwise become waste is transformed into a valuable resource.
2. Designed to Eliminate Waste
Sometimes sustainability begins with a simple question. Why design a shopper with a single shoulder strap instead of two handles? Because the answer lies in efficiency. The Monotracolla's distinctive shape was developed to optimize fabric cutting, significantly reducing material waste during production while maintaining comfort and practicality.

The Monotracolla is sewn entirely with cotton thread, eliminating the need for synthetic adhesives. This seemingly small design decision makes a significant difference: the bag is easier to repair, easier to recycle, and requires fewer chemical substances throughout its lifecycle. Reducing complexity today helps enable circularity tomorrow.

Customization should never come at the expense of sustainability.
For this reason, we use soy-based inks and printing techniques specifically developed to reduce the use of conventional pigments while maintaining high-quality visual performance.
Our proprietary g_pwdr® Technology and g_print enable both dyeing and printing using g® upgraded as a recovered pigment, turning industrial waste into a new creative resource. This innovative application is featured in the Perpetua g_bag, where customization itself becomes part of the product's sustainability story. Among the available finishing options is photoluminescent printing, which allows the shopping bag to absorb light and gradually release it in the dark, creating a glowing effect in shades of blue or green. This solution combines innovation, visual impact, and enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
